Mobile & Progressive Web App (PWA)

Pocket is engineered mobile-first. You can install Pocket as a Progressive Web App directly to your smartphone or tablet home screen for a fast, standalone application experience.

Installing on iOS (iPhone & iPad)​

  1. Open Safari and navigate to your Pocket instance (e.g., https://pocket.yourdomain.com).
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Tap the Share button in the Safari toolbar (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Confirm the name and tap Add in the upper-right corner.

Pocket will appear on your home screen with its custom icon. When opened, it runs in standalone mode without Safari browser chrome, navigation bars, or URL inputs.

Installing on Android​

  1. Open Chrome or Firefox and navigate to your Pocket instance.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.
  4. Select Install app or Add to Home screen.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompt to confirm installation.

Mobile interface features​

  • Bottom navigation bar: Access your library, collections, search, and settings comfortably with one thumb.
  • Touch-friendly tap targets: Every button, card menu, and tag filter is spaced with a minimum 44px tap target.
  • Fast search: Tap the search icon to immediately pull up the keyboard and filter your library.
  • Card actions sheet: Tapping the menu on any bookmark card opens a native-feeling bottom action sheet to edit, copy, pin, or delete links.
  • Adaptive card grid: On small screens, Pocket automatically scales preview cards into a single or dual-column stream optimized for one-handed scrolling.
